Spurs fans camp out for Kawhi Leonard's autograph

Some spend more than 24 hour in line

SAN ANTONIO – Some Spurs fans camped out in front of a Wing Stop for more than 24 hours to get an autograph from Kawhi Leonard.

The NBA Finals MVP is slated to sign autographs at the restaurant in the 5000 block of DeZavala Road Tuesday at 6 p.m.

"He is our MVP, so we just didn't want to miss the chance of being one of the 200," said Jessica Vidaurri.

The first 200 people in line are guaranteed an autograph.

Being in the front of the line didn't guarantee anything extra other than bragging rights, but some Spurs fans had a bit of friendly competition.

"I get to actually beat someone who is usually up front, so that was my goal," Amanda Killingstad said.

She was among the first few in line and was excited to be in front of Michelle Cabezas, who typically beats everyone to signings.

Instead, Cabezas took a nap Monday before driving to San Antonio from Houston.

"I had to get a grip on the reality that I'm still in line, so I'm good," Cabezas said.

The overnight campers brought chairs, blankets, pillows and even air mattresses to make the sidewalk a bit more comfortable. But even many who made it to Wing Stop before noon were among the group guaranteed an autograph.

A large overflow group planned to wait in line, just in case.
