HOUSTON – A Houston woman was sentenced to life in prison for fatally beating her baby in 2016, according to media reports.

Tradezsha Trenay Bibbs, 29, learned her sentence on Monday after she was found guilty of murder, KPRC, KSAT’s sister station in Houston, reported.

Assistant District Attorney Keaton Forcht told KPRC that Bibbs killed her 4-month-old daughter, Brielle Robinson, in April 2016 because the baby’s father didn’t want to be in a relationship with Bibbs.

“Bibbs deserved a life sentence for what she did to her child,” Forcht said. “She beat her countless times and seemed to care about as much about the death of her daughter as she did about the life of her daughter.”

KSAT previously reported that Bibbs claimed the baby fell from her car seat onto concrete, and a relative advised her to take the baby to the hospital.

Since Bibbs had an open Child Protective Services investigation, she decided not to do so. Brielle’s breathing became raspy and she later stopped breathing, prompting Bibbs to then take her to the hospital.

Court documents state that Brielle suffered multiple injuries, like broken ribs, that were not consistent with Bibbs’ story.

During the trial, emergency room doctors said that Bibbs was not interested in the baby’s medical care or the consequences related to her death.

“Our office stands up for all victims, but a baby is the most innocent of victims,” Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said. “We believed that a life sentence was appropriate for this brutal murder and a Harris County jury agreed.”
