Plane crash lands into home in Georgetown, 3 taken to hospital

Crash may be result of engine failure

AUSTIN – The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating after a plane crashed on top of a two-story home in Georgetown on Sunday.

The Georgetown Fire Department said the incident happened before noon in the 500 block of North Wood Drive.

The plane crashed on top of a vacant home, and three people inside the plane were taken to the hospital.

KVUE reported their injuries were not life-threatening.

The crash may have been the result of engine failure, according to air traffic control audio obtained by KVUE.

Shannon Hayes, who lives in the area, told the station that before the plane crashed, it was making a noise that “wasn’t good.”

“Some of the neighbors ran over. Two people climbed out of the airplane onto the roof and were asking for ladders while I was on the phone with 911,” she said.

The NTSB began its investigation on Sunday afternoon.
