Water main break launches water into air in geyser-like stream on NE Side

Nobody is out of water, SAWS reports

SAN ANTONIO – Many people driving on the highway near 410 and Perrin Beitel this afternoon no doubt noticed the geyser-like flow of water rushing out of the ground.

San Antonio Water System reported that the water is a result of a normal break in a 30-inch water main and that nobody in the area is out of water, though there were reports of some customers experiencing low pressure.

“Our crews are onsite and working to get the water shut-off but the shut-off process is not instantaneous it will take a some time to get it shut off,” a spokesperson with SAWS said.

Repairs have already begun to fix the break, which is being attributed to prolonged dry weather and high temperatures.

Fans react to Manu Ginobili's retirement announcement

Twenty two SAWS crews have responded to more than 30 breaks so far today, according to the spokesperson.

If you see water coming from a crack or break in the street or an abundant amount of water where it shouldn’t be please call the SAWS Emergency Operations Center at 210-704-7297 to report it. The EOC is open 24 hours a day.

Side note: Spurs fans are claiming it’s San Antonio’s tears streaming into the street since the break seemed to coincide with Manu Ginbili’s retirement announcement.
