SAN ANTONIO – Cries in a courtroom were heard Thursday night after a verdict was handed down to Frances Hall. She was found guilty of running her husband, Bill Hall, off the road, killing him.
The jurors took more than six hours to reach the verdict Thursday. The courtroom, packed with Frances Hall’s loved ones, was very tense, and an emotional series of moments ensued when the verdict was read aloud.
Frances Hall was the most emotional person in the room.
“No, I haven’t seen my babies,” she cried out.
Frances Hall was taken back to jail without bond. The prosecution argued during the trial that she did killed her husband on purpose, while the defense said Bill Hall lost control of his motorcycle and accidentally crashed.
After hours of deliberating, it looked like the jury was going to be sequestered and continue Friday, but they deliberated through dinner and came back with a verdict, one that shocked the defense team.
"We're very surprised by the verdict. We're very shocked by the verdict. We believe in our client. We believe in the case we put on. We're just extremely disappointed,” said Jean Brown, defense attorney.
Members of Frances and Bill Hall’s family were all there to support Frances. The defense team reassured them that it’s not over. There is still the sentencing phase.
The punishment phase is set to begin Monday at 9 a.m. The defense has chosen for the jury to decide that sentence.
