A detective said he saw Orozco take the truck and followed him in an unmarked car. Police said Orozco exited I-10, slammed into at least five cars on the eastbound lanes of the frontage road at Huebner Road before rolling the truck.

One of the cars Orozco hit was a Toyota Avalon, in which Trevino was riding in the passenger's seat.

Police said the Avalon was driving west on Huebner Road through the intersection of I-10 when it was struck by the Ford F-250 on the passenger's side. Police said the Toyota had a green light.

Trevino was taken to University Hospital where she later died. The driver of the Toyota was also taken to the hospital and was notified of Trevino's death by hospital staff.

Police said the force of the crash threw Orozco from the truck. He was taken to University Hospital in serious condition.

Police said Orozco has been charged with murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and theft of a vehicle. His bond has been set at $250,000.
