Woman with history of fraud charged again

Takeshia Harris, 34, accused of opening account in another woman's name

SAN ANTONIO – A woman with a prior fraud conviction is accused of committing that crime again by opening two bank accounts in another woman's name.

Takeshia Harris, 34, was arrested Monday on two counts of fraudulent use of identifying information.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, San Antonio police detectives were informed by an employee of IBC Bank on Sept. 24 about some forged checks that had been deposited into two newly-opened accounts.

The affidavit stated that the accounts were opened using the name and other personal information of a woman who told detectives that she had lost her Texas identification card in June.

She also told police that she did not open the bank accounts nor give anyone permission to do so in her name.

Detectives said they were able to review surveillance video from the bank and it showed a woman matching Harris' description opening the accounts and negotiating the transactions, the affidavit stated.

Investigators said one of the ways they were able to identify Harris was through a large flower tattoo on her upper chest.

Harris has a previous conviction of forgery and fraudulent use of identifying information and has served jail time for it, the affidavit stated.
