Another look at comet A3 before it slowly fades away over the next few nights.
An over 40-year-old lens attached to a modern day mirrorless DSLR equals vintage comet goodness.
I believe it is important to have a balanced perspective of what you see on social media. The same can be said for astronomy related pictures and videos posted to social media. The top part of the video is a reasonably accurate representation of what my eyes saw during a recent aurora in northern Raleigh, NC. The bottom part of the video is the same as the top with added tweaks to show the background better and enhance the colors of the aurora. Both videos have scientific merit, but only the top video provides a level of expectation of what people might see when viewing an aurora in real time.
An unbelievable show from northern Raleigh, North Carolina. You could clearly see the aurora with the naked eye.
Pretty epic looking SOHO Coronagraph imagery. Comet A3 is on the right side and coincides with a halo Coronal Mass Ejection.
Y'all have some interesting monuments in Bedford, VA. I tell you what. Boy howdy!
Visiting from San Antonio, Texas to escape the heat for a while. Had to do the touristy thing and visit the Roanoke Star. It's way cool to see at night.
