See the lights through Jan. 6

Ready to see thousands of twinkling Christmas lights?

The annual Light the Way Holiday Festival at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is back this year, with all the in-person traditions you know and love pivoting from the drive-thru model in 2020.

On Saturday, Nov. 20, the event will have live music, food trucks, the fan-favorite Shoppers’ Lane with local vendors, kids corner, meet and greets with Santa, and of course, a million twinkling lights along with a firework display to end the night.

Light the Way Holiday Festival gates open at 3 p.m. on Saturday followed by a lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. at 4301 Broadway St. Don’t run off after the ceremony; fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.

The lights are on from dusk to dawn at UIW through Jan. 6, when the campus celebrates the Feast of the Epiphany.

“This event has evolved over time, having begun as a fully student-run event on campus, to a ceremonial kickoff attended by the greater San Antonio community,” said a representative for the University of the Incarnate Word. “And now the holiday festival which hosts over 10,000 guests on its opening day.”
