SAN ANTONIO – In recognition of Pride Month, several events are happening around the Alamo City to celebrate the LGBTQ community.
Central Library

The Central Library is featuring the “Out and Proud in San Antonio: Pride Celebrations across the Years,” exhibit until July 31 in the Chihuly area. The exhibit will reveal the importance of Pride celebrations to the local community, according to the event website.

McNay exhibition
The McNay Art Museum is featuring the “Transamerica/n: Gender, Identity, Appearance Today” exhibition, which “celebrates the authentic, beautiful, and vulnerable voices of contemporary, North American artists who express their true selves through a broad gender spectrum,” according to the museum’s website.
The museum is also partnering with the University of Texas at San Antonio Special Collections to showcase LGBTQ community history of San Antonio and South Texas in the tandem exhibition “TransSanAntonian: Examining Trans Identities and Gender Fluidity in the Archives.”
The exhibitions begin June 20 and will run through Sept. 15. Prices for admission to the museum are listed on its website.

Show us Your Pride
The Kind Clinic will be hosting a Pride kickoff event called Show us Your Pride from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. June 21 at Brick at Blue Star Arts Complex.
The event will feature entertainment by the Rey Lopez Showgirls and DJ Ella Ella, complimentary food and drinks from Street Treats, resources provided by UNIFY San Antonio and Kind Clinic and HIV testing provided by Project HOT. The event will also have local art and food vendors.

Reading with the Queens
Local drag queens will be hosting Reading with the Queens at Woodlawn Pointe Banquet Hall. The free event will feature drag queens Kristi Waters, Sasha Cavalli and Tonica Cavalli and will include story time, a drag show, snacks and crafts.
Reading with the Queens is open to all ages and doors will open at 11 a.m. June 22. Story time will begin at noon.

Living Church at Woodlawn Pointe
The Living Church at Woodlawn Pointe will be having a special Drag Me to Church Pride Celebration on June 23. A Sunday service will begin at 11 a.m., and free brunch and a drag show featuring San Antonio entertainers will follow.

Pride Center San Antonio Icon Brunch
Pride Center San Antonio will host its first Icon Brunch on June 23. The brunch is expected to be one of the largest events to support the LGBTQ+ community center. It will feature DJ and vocalist Alyson Alonzo, and Kourtney Devereaux will serve as the emcee of the event. Funds raised will support the Pride Center's programming and services.

LGBTQ Ally Pride Mixer
The Pride Center San Antonio and PFLAG San Antonio will host an LGBTQ Ally Pride Mixer from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 28 at the Pride Center, located at 1303 McCullough Ave., Suite 160.

Pride Bigger Than Texas Festival and Parade
Pride San Antonio will host the annual Pride Bigger than Texas Festival and Parade on June 29. The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Crockett Park. The parade will follow, starting at 9 p.m. There will be a Pride in the Sky fireworks display after the parade.
