Did you know South San ISD has three middle school academies?

The three middle school choice academies are the Fine Arts Academy of Shepard Middle School, the STEM Academy at Dwight Middle School and the Health Science Academy at Zamora Middle School.

Academy students benefit from AVID, project-based learning, Pre-AP courses, high school dual credit courses and open enrollment.

✔️ AVID

AVID is a course in every student's schedule to support his or her success in college-prep curriculum.

✔️ Project-based learning

Students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging and complex question, problem or challenge.

✔️ Pre-AP courses

Pre-AP courses provide more rigorous course work that prepares students for advanced classes such as AP and dual credit in high school.

✔️ High school credit courses

Students will take actual high school courses while still in middle school to allow them to earn credits more quickly, leaving more room for college courses during high school.

✔️ Open enrollment

Students can apply to attend an academy even if it is not in their normal attendance zone.

All students enjoy successful educational experiences, empowering them to make decisions while enriching their lives in the future they create.
