The 6'11 post player from Chatham, Kent, England was another selection of what fans and pundits have deemed the "draft and stash" program.
Richards originally was unable to join the team during his rookie season as a result of recovering from two shoulder surgeries.
Richards played with the Spurs' summer league squad in 2013, finishing with averages of 5.5 points and 1.5 rebounds on 52% shooting.
Most recently Richards returned to Iran to play for Shahrdari Gorgan for 2015. Following the Iranian season, he then joined the Lebanese club Sageese. He also a short stint playing with Al-Ahli in May of 2016.
Richards earlier in Sept. was given a training camp invite with the team. Now a free agent, he is able to sign with any NBA team.
The Spurs training camp roster now stands at 19 players.
