Week 3: Big Game Coverage Road Trip from Kenedy to Poth

No description found

This week, the Big Game Coverage Road Trip rolls south down 181, with the first game featuring the Pettus War Eagles at the Kenedy Lions. But, due to inclement weather, this game was rescheduled for Thursday night.

“The weather that was being forecast had a lot to do with it,” Kenedy head coach Ronald Perez said. “Just looking for the safety of our kids and the kids from Pettus just made us realize to err on the side of caution, so that's why we moved our game.”

Instead of going live Friday at 6:00 p.m. from Kenedy High School, KSAT 12 Sports will instead go live from Falls City High School, where the Beavers will host the Stockdale Brahmas.

"Stockdale is well-coached. Coach West and his staff do an excellent job over there,” Falls City head coach Britt Hart said. “The last three years we've always been in a battle. I don't consider it just a rival game. It's just one of those good games in the area. It's going to be close, and with the weather the way it is, anything can happen.”

Falls City junior Brady Lyssy, who plays running back and cornerback, is looking forward to facing the Brahmas.

"I think we're pretty strong,” Lyssy said. “We beat them last year, but we know things can change. But I think we're ready for them. We should take them easily.”

Falls City has won the last six meetings with Stockdale, and the Beavers are confident they can extend their streak.

“We're looking good. We're really good on our offensive line this year,” junior lineman McKade Hartmann said. “We think if we can handle them up front, we'll be successful running and passing the ball.”

  • Game 1: Pettus War Eagles (2-0) at Kenedy Lions at Lion Stadium will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. (KSAT will still air the highlights Friday night with the rest of the road trip)

  • Game 2: Stockdale Brahmas (1-1) vs. Falls City Beavers (2-0) at Beaver Stadium will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

  • Game 3: Karnes City Badgers (1-1) at Poth Pirates (1-1) at Jack Lane Stadium will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
