The new Gunslingers are playing their second season in San Antonio and their first in the National Arena League. The original Gunslingers played their United State Football League games at Alamo Stadium in 1984 and 1985 before the team folded for financial reasons.
The 2022 arena football team will play a total of 12 regular season games with six games being held at the Freeman. The Gunslingers were scheduled to play at the Freeman last year but the site became a COVID-19 testing center during the pandemic and it hosted antibody therapy treatments for patients starting in January of 2021.
Fred Shaw is the Gunslingers head coach. Shaw was a defensive star for the San Antonio Talons of the Arena Football League. The Talons played their home games in the Alamodome between 2012 and 2014.
The Gunslingers will host the Orlando Predators Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets through TicketMaster.com or you can visit the Gunslingers website. Tickets for Saturday’s game start at $30.00.
