SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama has been named the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week, the team announced Monday.
Wembanyama delivered dominant performances in two starts, leading the Spurs to a 2-0 record.

The 7-foot 3-inch standout averaged 36 points, seven blocks, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists while shooting 52.5% from the field, 47.8% from three-point range, and 83.3% at the free-throw line.
On Dec. 19, he propelled the Spurs to a 133-126 overtime victory against Atlanta, finishing with 42 points, six rebounds, six assists, four blocks, and two steals. Wembanyama scored eight points in overtime and hit seven three-pointers, becoming just the second player in NBA history with at least seven threes and four blocks in a single game, joining former Spur Danny Green.
Two days later, Wembanyama posted 30 points, 10 blocks, seven rebounds, and three assists in a 114-94 win over Portland. He became just the sixth player in league history to record a game with at least 30 points and 10 blocks. During the game, he also reached his 200th career three-pointer, achieving the milestone as the 15th-fastest player in NBA history.
For the season, Wembanyama is averaging 24.7 points, 10 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and an NBA-leading 3.78 blocks per game.
