SAN ANTONIO – Have you found yourself taking Victor Wembanyama for granted yet?
It’s ok if you have. The French phenom himself would tell you he’d prefer competing for NBA championships over any personal achievement.

“I still don’t have any team achievement in my career,” said Wembanyama, explaining how he finds motivation to improve when he’s reaching historic benchmarks so early in his career.
“We haven’t been qualified to the playoffs, we haven’t won a playoff series yet or won it all, so motivation really is not a hard thing to find.”
But, after Wembanyama posted 30 points (8-16 FG, 4-8 3PT), 10 blocks, and seven rebounds in the Spurs’ decisive 114-94 win over Portland — basketball fans were, once again, reminded of Wemby’s excellence.
Not only is Wembanyama the youngest player in NBA history to record 30+ points and 10+ blocks in a game, but he’s also just the sixth player with a similar stat line.

Wembanyama has recorded at least one block in 62 straight games, passing the admiral David Robinson’s record for a new franchise mark.
Now, let’s talk about the 7-foot-4 center’s three-point shooting.
As of Saturday, Wemby has made 201 career three-pointers to become the 15th fastest in NBA history to reach the 200 benchmark.
Notably, Wembanyama reached 200 career threes faster than Stephen Curry, James Harden and Ray Allen — the top three long-range shooters in league history.
“Some days it doesn’t feel right,” said Wembanyama of his three-point shooting. “But, those days get less and less and been less and less over the years.”
Wembanyama’s next opportunity to make NBA history will be on Monday at 6 p.m. against Joel Embiid and the 76ers.
The last time and only time Embiid and Wembanyama squared off — Embiid dropped 70 points and 18 rebounds, while Wemby had 33 points and seven rebounds.
