WWE legend Bill Goldberg thrilled after son Gage’s return home for Valero Alamo Bowl

Boerne Champion High School alum Gage Goldberg is back in town and his father couldn’t be happier

SAN ANTONIO – When the Colorado Buffaloes arrived downtown ahead of the 2024 Valero Alamo Bowl, a San Antonio area native was welcomed home by more than just a few Buffalo fans.

Former Boerne Champion High School linebacker Gage Goldberg was center stage at Tuesday morning’s practice at UTSA’s RACE Facility, and his father, WWE legend Bill Goldberg, couldn’t be happier to have his son home for the holidays.

“If I was a studio producer, I couldn’t have written a script better than this one,” said Bill Goldberg. “I mean, truly, it’s unreal. But, you know, everything happens for a reason. We’ve gone to every home game. We’re ecstatic to have him 20 minutes down the road from Boerne. You know, for the next five days and probably two weeks after that. So it’s truly a blessing, it really is.”

While Bill Goldberg closely monitored Gage during practice, Colorado linebackers' coach André Hart was critical of his players’ lack of effort.

“To see a kid like Goldberg who meets with me every day, at 3:45, he comes into my office, and we go over his film, and he’s gotten better doing it,” said Coach Hart. “So when you get out here, and you see him relaxed for a better way, that P’s me off, okay? Because I don’t know what I can say on here. But it takes me to another level, and you get very agitated by that. You always got to push the bar, you always got to move forward and I need to make sure they understood just because we’re in Texas, we’re going to Coach like we in Colorado, all right? We’re going to get our job done today.”

The Buffaloes will be at SeaWorld San Antonio on Christmas Day, along with plenty of more festivities leading up to Saturday’s Valero Alamo Bowl, and the KSAT 12 Sports Team will be there for it all.
