SAN ANTONIO – After defeating the Brooklyn Nets on Dec. 27, San Antonio Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama carried his impact beyond the court to a fan eager to meet him.

In a post by the Spurs on X, formerly known as Twitter, Wembanyama was seen doing a jersey swap with a little Spurs fan, who held a sign that asked for the swap.

Wembanyama posed with the fan, who held a game-worn jersey almost his size. He then held up the child’s jersey, which looked microscopic in his hands.

The heartfelt moment went viral as people praised Wembanyama for making the child’s night.

However, almost three weeks later, those emotions disappeared. Images circulated through social media that the game-worn jersey the child received was up for sale on an online auction site called Goldin.

Fans throughout social media reacted negatively to the new listing, including Wemby, who posted a crying emoji to a picture of it.

For those interested, the starting bid for the jersey is $10,000. In the description, the seller describes how Wembanyama performed and how the jersey swap went down.

“The jersey swap Wembanayama participated in at the end of the game was a little bit different; as he was exiting the court to head to the locker room, Wembanayama caught sight of a sign that read “Victor Wembanayama, will you swap jerseys with me?”, the sale description said.

This isn’t the first time that Wembanyama has given out his jersey.

He was captured handing out a young fan his game-worn jersey last November and recently with Spurs point guard Chris Paul after their game with the Los Angeles Lakers Monday night.

The forward-point guard duo gave jerseys to the kids of Lakers head coach JJ Redick, who are NBA memorabilia collectors. Reddick said his California home was destroyed in the California wildfires and his kids lost all of their collection.
