Jordan Clarkson brings JC Cares charity golf tournament back to San Antonio after winning NBA title

Newly crowned NBA champion Jordan Clarkson returned to his hometown to give back

SAN ANTONIO – Newly crowned NBA champion Jordan Clarkson returned to his hometown of San Antonio to give back by hosting the second annual JC Cares Charity Golf Invitational with friends, fans, local businesses and several familiar basketball names.

Clarkson, a Wagner High School graduate and New York Knicks guard, is coming off his first NBA championship. The title run included a win over his hometown team, the San Antonio Spurs, adding another layer to his return to the Alamo City.

The charity golf event featured three-time NBA champion and former Spur Bruce Bowen, who spent time on the course with Clarkson. Former Spurs player Rudy Gay also took part, along with Jeremy Sochan and Jared Vanderbilt.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit the JC Cares Foundation, which supports scholarships, youth programs and families in need.

Clarkson said the championship celebration is behind him, but he is enjoying seeing his foundation continue to grow and bring more support to the San Antonio community.

“It was amazing, but we put that behind us,” Clarkson said. “A lot of us already have; the celebration is done. Back to work and the goal is to do it again.”

The JC Cares Foundation is expected to continue its work through programs aimed at helping local students, young people and families.

“It’s big for us. It’s humbling,” Clarkson continued. “The experience of having this and seeing how much it’s grown over the years and how much we have impact and influence: people, the youth, the city, country of the Philippines. Us coming back impacting Texas, San Antonio, it’s just amazing.”
