SAN ANTONIO – The newly renovated Alamodome was unveiled by San Antonio city officials on Wednesday.
The $60 million renovation marks the most significant capital improvement project in the facility’s 24-year history.

City officials said the renovations modernize the Alamodome to be more comparable and competitive with other sports venues and stadiums across the country.
Mayor Ron Nirenberg took part in Wednesday’s unveiling. “We are celebrating the beginning of a new era for the sports, entertainment and tourism sector of our local economy,” Nirenberg said. “With these expansive upgrades, our Alamodome will continue to provide affordable and varietal entertainment to our community.”

Some of the highly anticipated features were two massive HD video walls that are located on the corners of the facility. Two more video walls will be added later this fall.
A new sound system, improved WiFi and state-of-the-art production room were part of the renovations.
Other features include the new H-E-B Plaza, located in the front entrance across from Sunset Station.
The H-E-B Plaza expansion features a new multi-purpose room designed for post-game interviews and press conferences.
The east and west concourses were also expanded to give more space, and food and beverage options for visitors.
Outdoor beer gardens have also been added on both sides of the building.
The Alamodome originally opened in 1993. It has hosted several big sporting and entertainment events throughout the years.
It will host the 2018 NCAA Men’s Final Four and continue to be the home of the Valero Alamo Bowl and UTSA football.
