SAN ANTONIO – The Northside Independent School District has now joined North East and Alamo Heights ISDs in moving their kickoff times up one hour for high school football games on Friday evening.
The districts made the time changes after San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff’s Thanksgiving weekend curfew began on Thursday.
The leaders imposed the curfew in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19 as cases rise in the area.
The curfew period is between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. until Monday. Click here to learn more about the curfew rules.
Nirenberg told KSAT 12 News during an appearance on the 6 o’clock Q&A segment on Wednesday that high school football games would not be affected. He said fans should not congregate after the games conclude. Nonetheless, the three districts decided it was prudent to make the change.
