BOERNE, Texas – Early mornings in December can be cold in Boerne, but the Greyhounds’ football team doesn’t mind because they’re still playing football.
The Boerne Greyhounds (11-3) will face the Richmond Randle Lions (14-0) in the UIL Class 5A Division II state semifinals with a trip to AT&T Stadium and the 5A DII state championship game on the line.
The Greyhounds will have to contend with Lions sophomore running back Landen Williams-Callis, who’s rushed for 1,953 yards and 41 touchdowns this season. Junior quarterback Tyler Skrabanek has thrown for 1,886 yards with 23 touchdowns.
On the flip side, the Lions will have to deal with the Boerne sophomore quarterback Hank Hendrix and his 4,109 yards passing and 45 touchdowns. His top receiver is Brooks Perez, who has 72 receptions for 1,289 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Randall is averaging 50.6 points per game this season, while Boerne is averaging 43.7 points per contest.
Boerne will face Richmond Randle at McLane Stadium in Waco on Friday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m.
