SAN ANTONIO – There are more signs that Spurs All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard could be back in the lineup in the near future.
Bill Schoening, the radio play-by-play voice of the Spurs, posted on Twitter that head coach Gregg Popovich said on Friday that Leonard has had two practice sessions of 5-on-5, but the team is still erring on the side of caution because Leonard is too valuable to bring back early.

The 5-on-5 practices are significant because it’s the same rehabilitation step Tony Parker took right before he made his way back onto the court.
Parker made his season debut on Monday and said he practiced with Leonard, and Kawhi has “been looking good.”
Parker added that he thought Leonard was about two to three weeks away from returning to the lineup.
Leonard has missed the entire regular season with right quadriceps tendinopathy.
Popovich said last month Leonard is progressing, but his rehab has come along slower.
The Spurs play Friday night at Memphis and Sunday night at Oklahoma City. They are currently 14-7 on the season despite Leonard's absence.
