Daniela Ibarra

Investigative Reporter

Daniela Ibarra joined the KSAT News team in July 2023. This isn’t her first time in the KSAT newsroom – she spent the summer of 2017 as an intern.

Before returning home, Daniela spent two years reporting at KTUL in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her stories on a loophole in protective order eligibility led to a change in Oklahoma state law. Leaders credit her relentless reporting for pushing the city to improve safety in a low-income neighborhood and replace worn-down fire trucks. Daniela started her reporting career at KTXS in Abilene, Texas.

Daniela is a proud Mean Green alum, earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Texas. In March 2023, the Mayborn School of Journalism recognized her with a Rising Star award.

She’s passionate about holding the powerful accountable and representation in the newsroom. Daniela is a 2025 Chauncey Bailey Journalist of Color Investigative Reporting Fellow. She served on the national board of the Society of Professional Journalists for three years. She’s a past student representative for the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and a member of Investigative Reporters & Editors and the San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists.

Daniela is the proud daughter of Ecuadorian immigrants and an Army brat who is thrilled to be back home in Military City, USA. She graduated from Judson ISD.

In her spare time, Daniela loves hanging out with her Chiweenie mix, Markle, eating tacos, and cheering on the Spurs.
