San Antonio – With 2020 officially over, we wanted to know what big plans KSAT viewers have for 2021. To date, the Defenders have done more than 50 stories detailing failures and possible lawbreaking during Barrientes Vela’s time in office. It was the third time in two years that McManus gave information on fatal shootings by SAPD officers that was later refuted. The suspect SAPD officers were actually looking for, Darren Smith Jr., has never been charged for the domestic violence incident. This June 2020 investigation took a look at a little-known practice of cities charging drivers involved in accidents fees for the response by fire departments. Following this Defenders investigation, the deputies involved in the incident were placed on administrative duty.

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio registered nurse who spent most of 2020 caring for COVID-19 patients in several Texas cities and New York is reflecting on what it was like to work on the front lines and how the pandemic changed her life forever. SaintLouis also spent a lot of time caring for COVID-19 patients in Houston, El Paso and San Antonio. SaintLouis is currently working in a San Antonio hospital and continues to work with COVID-19 patients who have severe symptoms. “We’re definitely being hit here because that’s all I’ve been working with, is COVID-19 patients that are on life support,” SaintLouis said. For now, she will stay in San Antonio to be closer to her family.

SAN ANTONIO – This may be the season for gift-giving, but many people are fed up with what 2020 has had to offer. But I don’t want to be negative, there were a lot of good positive things that came out of it,” said Ann Newman. “It’s not been a good year but I’m afraid to say anything ‘cause 2021 can say, ‘Hold my beer,” said Dawn Rodarte, joking. We just bought a new truck.”Rodarte, meanwhile, had advice for anyone else who is hoping for good luck next year. ‘Make sure you eat all your black-eyed peas, whether you like them or not,” she said, laughing.

It is the first time they have had contact of any kind since the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown started in late February. Mary-Lou and Bob are in isolation from the Covid-19 pandemic, trying to ensure that they do not come in contact with the virus. Brock has been teaching daily online to her students because of the closure of schools in Kentucky due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The organizations feel that the local government programs are not doing enough for the homeless during the coronavirus pandemic. It is the first time they have had contact of any kind since the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown started in late February.

As if the coronavirus pandemic wasn’t enough for us to handle, with all things considered, 2020 has been one of the most unpredictable, unfathomable, and just downright bizarre years on record. It’s hard to say what 2021 will have in store, but for now, we’re taking a look back at some of the weirdest moments of 2020. Here’s a look at the KSAT Weather Team’s list of the top 5 weather events of 2020:Number 5In June, a far away visitor that really seemed to capture the imagination of South Texans was the Saharan dust cloud. There was hope that hot weather might help keep COVID-19 at bay, but cases ramped up again in July. While weather may play a small role in how COVID-19 spreads, hot, dry weather did not seem to have much effect. A record number of named storms and a record number of landfalling storms were recorded in 2020. Three of the named storms brought impacts to Texas.

McKibbin, a singer from Texas best known for her third place finish in the first season of "American Idol," died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020. Scottish actor Sean Connery, best known for his role as secret agent James Bond, died Oct. 31 at the age of 90. Cordero died Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Cedars-Sinai hospital after more than 90 days in the hospital, according to his wife, Amanda Kloots.

This year has been different in a lot of ways, but experiencing and consuming music in 2020 has been absolutely abnormal. The band’s third album came out this summer, and it tackles a complex variety of issues: depression, love and misogyny they faced in the music industry. Lady Gaga: ChromaticaWe couldn’t go through this year of music and not mention the current queen of pop: Lady Gaga. After all, 2019 was a pretty big year for Gaga (she won an Oscar, after all), but that wasn’t stopping her from making 2020 her year. While it probably didn’t go as planned, her latest album, “Chromatica,” brought Gaga back to form, making undeniable and danceable pop music.

SAN ANTONIO A passion to create lead a Purple Heart Army veteran to Hollywood and now to San Antonio. Anthony Saldivar is a single father whose life has been driven by a passion to serve others. Saldivar applied to San Antonio Colleges Mortuary Science Department. This has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever done in my life, Saldivar said. Saldivar is eager for San Antonio Colleges commencement ceremony that has been pushed back to the fall of this year due to COVID-19.

SAN ANTONIO La-Tieka Sims has always been involved in student government at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. She was the student body president, president of the Student Government Association and also the treasurer of the Delta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated. Long term, I want to run for office, said La-Tieka Sims, Texas A&M University San Antonio graduate. I really want to push for women and especially women of color, said Sims. It baffles me sometimes about how long it has taken for even our city council to look the way it looks.

Kaitlyn Valera is not only graduating from UTSA, but she is going back in the fall to get her PhD in biochemistry. I really love it. Kaitlyn is continuing her education at UTSA and she hopes to be on the forefront of research. I just I really love learning and I think I would be very tedious. Kaitlyn is currently doing research on a drug called Artemisinin -- another antimalarial drug like hydrochloroquine -- and she hopes her research helps the world fight against devastating diseases."
