After spending years entangled in legal disputes, Selena’s widower and her family are reconciling, Chris Perez announced on Tuesday.

But this series focuses much more on balancing relationships within a family, growing up in South Texas and the demands and sacrifices of life on the road. Chavira believes the series achieved just that and is an authentic reflection of life for Latino families in South Texas. According to Carlito Miranda, Perez’s manager, someone reached out to Perez on social media after a recent visit to the museum. On Tuesday, Perez took to social media with a post saying, “I heard they were trying to make me nonexistent to Selena’s legacy..... A few hours after this story was posted, Suzette Quintanilla, posted two videos on her Instagram account that show Perez on the Selena Museum wall.

Corpus Christi, TEXAS – A Corpus Christi man who organized a President Trump campaign gathering this month posted on Facebook that he has been threatened with a lawsuit by the family of Selena. Joe Michael Perez, the event organizer, said he received a cease and desist letter from Selena’s father Abraham Quintanilla to cancel the July 11 gathering planned at Selena’s statue. Perez has also been using the slogan “Bidi Bidi Trump Trump” as a promotional slogan. Perez also owns a Trump pop-up shop that sells merchandise and T-shirts with photos of him standing next to the Selena statue and a Trump hat on the statue. Perez told TMZ in an interview he is expecting at least 150 people at his gathering on Saturday.

A lifetime in the music business, Abraham Quintanilla, now 81, has taken a back seat at Q-Productions as Selena’s sister Suzette is now CEO and president of the business. “We’re doing alright, good to be alive and doing the same thing that we love to do — music,” Quintanilla said. “We used to play quite often in San Antonio and the response for Selena was always great,” Quintanilla said. “These children weren’t even born with Selena passed away, but they want to sing and dance and be like Selena,” Quintanilla said. “I want to thank them for keeping my daughter alive through her music and just being part of this Selena trip,” Quintanilla said.
