The fire broke out around 4 a.m. Tuesday in one building of the Tuscany Apartments, located in the 1200 block of Patricia. āIt was actually around the chimney, and when I got here, about a quarter of the roof was already on fire,ā said Battalion Chief Brooke Hildreth of the San Antonio Fire Department. SAFD crews respond to a fire at an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Patricia Drive, near Parliament Street. AdFirefighters helped many of them make their way to a clubhouse at the apartment complex to get out of the cold and get assistance from the American Red Cross.

When firefighters arrived at the complex in the 1300 block of Gardina Street, they found heavy smoke and fire in the second-floor attic, said San Antonio Fire Department spokesman Joe Arrington. Some residents were displaced and apartment management is working to help them find temporary shelter. There was heavy damage to at least three units, Arrington said. The fire is believed to have started in an apartment under renovation.

The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for burns on his hands and smoke inhalation, fire officials said. The fire, which broke out around 10 a.m. in the 200 block of Clutter Avenue, is believed to have been caused by an electrical issue in the detached apartment. Damage is estimated at $40,000.
