This Blakes Brainiacs experiment is all about laminar flow, one of two main types of flow that water or any fluid can have. Last fall, Ignacia Kilgore’s students entered the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest with an invention aimed at stopping the widespread use of petroleum-based plastics. They’re now aiming to win the grand prize! Just by getting to this point, the girls were awarded $15,000 worth of technology for their school. Ignacia told KSAT that this money is so appreciated, since the school doesn’t have the latest technology and equipment for the students to use. If they win the grand prize, the school will receive $100,000 worth of technology and classroom supplies, as well as a trip to Washington D.C. for Ms. Kilgore’s class.

SAN ANTONIO – Searching for a summer camp? The DoSeuem has you covered with their Master Camp programs for kids ages 6-11. The Master Programs help kids dive into the digital world so that they walk away with new technological skills. Every week from now until early August the museum will be offering a master camp centering around a STEM topic: science, technology, engineering, and math. Last week, campers recieved hands on expereince with the 3D printing process while this week they will be focusing on editing and creating vlog videos.

SAN ANTONIO – A group of local high school students has harnessed the power of the sun - for a race car! The Engineering Team at Southwest Legacy High School has constructed an electric-solar power car. The Solar Car Challenge invites teams from all across the country to bring their cars and compete. The Solar Car Challenge competition will take place from Thursday, July 11th to Thursday, July 18th in Fort Worth, Texas. We wish the Southwest Legacy Engineering Team the best of luck!

"Code Ninjas is a place where kids, ages 7 to 14, can come here and learn how to code their own video games," said Jennifer Block. She and her husband decided to open the Stone Oak Code Ninjas location after deciding they needed a change for their son. Kids who join Code Ninjas start off as a white belt, and work their way up to black belt. To advance from belt to belt, kids follow a set curriculum. Just as they are able to work at their own pace, the kids can also visit their local Code Ninjas location when they'd like.

What's in store for the next 300 years of San Antonio? At the DoSeum's Dream Tomorrow Today exhibit, children have the chance to dream up the inventions and city planning that will make a difference over the next three centuries. "I think everyone likes envisioning what San Antonio can be in 300 years," said Drew Henry, the DoSeum's social media coordinator. "Kids can scan their drawings in and then have them projected on the wall," Henry said. The Dream Tomorrow Today exhibit debuted on June 2 and will run through Jan. 6, 2019.
