ORIGINAL STORY: Residents in South Bexar County neighborhood forced to take cover as bullets zing by them from nearby propertyLast week, Jorge Trevino, who is part-owner of the club, said there was no proof the bullets came from his property. On Monday, KSAT learned heās decided to keep the shooting range closed until he gets accreditation from the National Rifle Association, even though he says itās not needed. Meanwhile, the Bexar County Fire Marshalās Office is involved in making sure any structures used by the business comply with state rules.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Rosillo Street and Buena Vista Street, just west of downtown. Officers searching the area couldnāt find a crime scene on Commerce Street near 29th Street, or find a potential suspect. The wounded man was taken by EMS to University Hospital in critical condition. The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department, and EMS all answered the call.

Until then, opinions differ over whether having a historical designation would be good for a community thatās already seeing developers buying up properties just west of downtown. A city spokeswoman said a historical district designation could make that more difficult, involving approval by the Historic and Design Review Commission. If 51% support is not reached, the spokeswoman said the application for the historic designation will expire June 2, 2021. The district would stretch east to west from Brazos to Zarzamora, and north to south from Buena Vista to Cesar Chavez. Three virtual public meetings will be held on Aug. 7 at 3 p.m. , Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. and Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. to discuss the proposed historic district. Benefits for owner-occupied homes included in the boundary include 20% off city taxes for 10 years and the opportunity to extend the incentive for five years after.
