The Carver Community Cultural Center announced its lineup for the 2024-2025 season on Thursday.

KSAT News at Noon hit the road on Friday to the Carver Community Cultural Center in the heart of the Dignowity Hill neighborhood.

Dignowity Hill is committed to its history but open to its evolution, according to neighbors. A unique example of that is the importance and reverence people share for The Carver, a performing arts center that was once the only library for Black San Antonians during segregation. Just blocks away, a company focused on innovation in the life sciences has become part of the neighborhood. And the latter has plans to grow even bigger roots in Dignowity Hill.

Now in its fifth year, the San Antonio Black International Film Festival is celebrating and highlighting Black filmmakers and artists.

After weeks of learning about directing, producing and acting, some San Antonio area students are bringing their films to the community.

A local artist is sharing his journey and telling stories about his homeland Rwanda in a new exhibit.

Courses in visual, performing, creative and cultural arts are returning to the Carver Community Cultural Center for the Fall season.
