According to the report, officers responding to the call originally couldnāt find anything, but as they were in the parking lot getting ready to leave, they heard a gunshot and children yelling and screaming inside an apartment.
When the officers went to the apartment, a woman and five children ran out the unit, leaving an armed 44-year-old man inside, the report said.
One of the officers tried to get the man, identified as Victor Sanchez, to drop his handgun, the report said.
None of the officers were injured and will be placed on administrative leave pending a criminal and administrative investigations.
According to the report, Sanchez was out on bond for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon case where the woman was the victim.
