AUSTIN, Texas – Danny Kaspar, the former Texas State basketball coach who resigned while under investigation for allegations he directed racist taunts at Black players, said he holds “only love in my heart for people of all races, colors and creeds” in a resignation letter released Wednesday by the school. Kaspar resigned Sept. 22 while the school probed allegations raised by a former Bobcats player who had transferred. In his letter, Kaspar noted he had been a coach for 29 years, the last seven with Texas State, and that most of his players over his career were Black. The school has asked the state attorney general to let it withhold other information related to the investigation, which has not been released. “The Department of Athletics is committed to strengthening our university culture that values and supports diversity, equity and inclusion for our student-athletes, staff, and community,” Texas State Athletic Director Larry Teis said when the investigation was announced.

SAN MARCOS – Danny Kaspar is stepping down from his position as head men’s basketball coach. Texas State announced via press release that Director of Athletics Larry Teis has accepted Kaspar’s resignation. Kaspar came under fire in June, as former players accused him of making racist remarks during practice. Shead transferred the following summer. Former teammate Alex Peacock supported Shead, saying "I stand with my boy Jaylen and everything he says 100%.”

SAN ANTONIO – A group of protesters is gathered in downtown San Antonio for the eighth day in a row for racial inequality and the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Sky12 followed the protesters as they made their way through downtown, Saturday, June 6. City leaders said they are pleased with the peaceful protests that have been held over the last few days in the Alamo City and have lifted the temporary curfew over the downtown business district. SAN ANTONIO Former Texas State point guard Jaylen Shead has detailed alleged racists remarks and incidents involving head coach Danny Kaspar. Shead was a student-athlete at Texas State and a starter for the mens basketball team during the 2018-19 season. I could overlook the way coach Kaspar treated the players in most regards. With all this going on, lets talk about what I and other players dealt w playing for Danny Kaspar at Texas State. He alleged that Kaspar used racially insensitive remarks during drills and referred to several black stereotypes during team meetings.
