ORIGINAL REPORT: So, about that poll suggesting Texas is the most-hated state in the nation...Below are some of the reactions on social media to the poll:Envy, table for 49!!! Their “most hated states” poll was based on an analysis of people who have recently moved out of each state and a Gallup poll of which citizens felt the most pride in their home states - um, who has more pride in their state than Texans? It’s worth noting a 2019 report from KSAT showed that Texas is actually one of the fastest-growing states in the country with the majority of new residents coming in from California and Florida.

That’s right - on this day in 1836, Antonio de Padua María Severino López de Santa Anna y Pérez de Lebrón - aka general Santa Anna was making his way to the Alamo with about 4000 soldiers. Santa Anna’s army overpowered the outnumbered Alamo defenders, and the siege ended with a majority of the volunteers deceased. After Santa Anna’s victory - the Alamo became occupied by Mexican forces as Santa Anna marched to what is today Houston. General Santa Anna lost the battle near San Jacinto that day - was captured - and came to terms to end the war.
