Colbert is the second BCSO deputy in as many days to face criminal charges. Seven BCSO deputies have already faced criminal charges since the start of 2021, putting the agency on pace to have more than 30 arrests this year. An official statement from BCSO said Colbert had been employed since February and was assigned to the Bexar County Adult Detention Center. She was still in the probationary period and has been terminated according to Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Civil Service rules.

Lopezs wife, 40-year-old Valerie Lopez, was also arrested and charged with interfering with a public servant. According to preliminary information released by SAPD Wednesday morning, officers responded to a call for a disturbance at Lopezs home. Luis Lopez allegedly fired 10 shots in the air and toward the ground in front of his home, according to an SAPD source. When Luis Lopez was being walked to the patrol car he became more violent and threw himself on the ground, according to SAPD.
