Katelyn Bovaird, 16, has Down syndrome and has required a service dog for the past few years due to having major reconstructive surgeries in both of her hips. “Frost was her original service dog, but we came home Oct. 31, and he suddenly passed away. “We moved from Cibolo to La Vernia Nov. 27 and the next day, there was a pretty big rainstorm,” Bovaird said. “It buckled like a belt and it had a tag that identified him as a service dog.

With it being Down Syndrome Awareness Month, Lickert had this piece of advice to tell others in the community.

Well be watching it virtually and theyll give us a time slot to let us know when we can expect to see her, Quinisha McBride, Nolahs mother said. Very exciting to see my baby up there representing all the other babies with Down Syndrome, McBride said. Yet, when Nolahs mother was told her firstborn childs diagnosis, she said she often worried about how others would treat her.
