The Drive-In at Fiesta Texas, hosted by Rooftop Cinema Club is located just outside the front gates of Six Flags Fiesta Texas and is showing holiday classics throughout the rest of the world’s longest year. The multi-day series starts with an interactive sing-a-long edition of the “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and a “non-essential comedy” show on Oct. 29. On Oct. 30 and 31, the EDM Drive-In, Volume 2, will call Virtual Riot, Etc! To adhere to social distancing guidelines, venues and promoters have switched to the drive-in experience for movie showings, concerts and performances. This summer, the EDM Drive-In made its debut at the Freeman Coliseum, with towers set up so Bexar County Sheriff’s Office deputies could monitor at a safe distance and officers patrolling the grounds.

Retired and active military can receive a 15% discounted ticket online with a valid military I.D., shown upon entering the venue, officials said. “Rooftop Cinema will host $5 ‘Community Screenings’ for those impacted by COVID-19 and also those in support of Black Lives Matter. 100% of the proceeds from the first film shown every Tuesday will be donated directly to the San Antonio Food Bank and to the Black Lives Matter organization,” according to cinema officials.

According to the festivals spokesperson, Sid Zuber, its a chance to party safely during the pandemic. All venue staff are required to wear masks, and Live Nation requests that attendees wear masks upon arrival, where there will be contact-less ticket scanning through their windows. Masks are not required once fans are in their designated tailgate areas, and Live Nation is not requiring that fans wear gloves. Tom See, president of Live Nation Venues-US Concerts, said the company spent months working to find a safe, enjoyable way to put on live shows during the pandemic. A menu of hot food items and nonalcoholic will be available for purchase, Live Nation said.

The drive-in, which will be located just outside the front gates of Six Flags Fiesta Texas, will start selling tickets online June 10. It will be a contactless drive-in theater and guests will be able to bring food or can order concessions like popcorn, candy and soda from Rooftop Cinema or other on-site food truck partners. The first slate of movies will run from June 18 through June 28 with more films coming in July.
