An inmate at the Bexar County Jail who attempted to kill herself last week died on Sunday, deputies said.

According to police, SAPD received confirmation from a LoJack stolen vehicle recovery system and notified the Eagle helicopter and patrol units in the area. Police said Hernandez attempted to flee, but the Eagle helicopter was able to follow the vehicle and notified officers of his change in direction. Police say Hernandez traveled approximately 25 minutes and then got out of the stolen vehicle where another car attempted to pick him up. Patrol officers were able to stop that vehicle and take him into custody, police said. AdSAPD said Hernandez has been charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest, felon in possession of a firearm and three felony warrants.

SAN ANTONIO – A man is now in custody after leading San Antonio police’s Eagle helicopter across town on a lengthy, high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle, according to police. Police said the man lead their helicopter on a chase in the east and south patrol areas while driving a stolen vehicle. The man also hit a vehicle at Martin Luther King Drive and New Braunfels Avenue, but no injuries were reported. AdThe man had called another driver to come pick him up, and he got into their vehicle. The suspect already had felony warrants for his arrest, and he is now facing an additional charge for a stolen vehicle, police said.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. and ended near Loop 410 and Fredericksburg Road on the city’s Northwest Side. According to police, officers attempted to pull the driver over, but he instead sped off, leading police throughout the area. Police said the Eagle helicopter picked up the vehicle on Interstate 35 and followed him south, when he eventually sped west before finally coming to a stop near Fredericksburg Road. Authorities said the man then attempted to run on foot, but he was quickly apprehended by officers.
