Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Dilworth joined the Freedom Riders at age 17 in 1961 after watching the Mississippi civil rights activities on the television. In the earlier days of the Freedom Riders, Dilworth was arrested in Mississippi alongside Barbara Bowieās brother. Decades later, she joined Dilworth every year where they lived in San Antonio, educating local children. Dilworthās major role in the Civil Rights Movement wasnāt her only great service to the United States.
