Stocks ended higher on Wall Street but still wound up with weekly losses after several days of bumpy trading.

Stocks slumped on Wall Street Friday, leaving the S&P 500 with its biggest one-day loss in almost seven weeks, as worries deepen about a surge in interest rates and the U.S. central bank's efforts to fight inflation.

(AP Photo/Steven Senne)WASHINGTON – Consumers spending slumped 1% as severe winter storms raked portions of the U.S. and personal incomes fell sharply as well in February. The drop in spending came after a big 3.4% gain in January, the Commerce Department reported Friday. Consumer spending is closely watched because it accounts for two-thirds of economic activity. Since so much of the weakness was weather-related, economists believe economic activity will remain solid overall in the January-March quarter. AdThe expectation is that the economy will receive a boost from the $1.9 trillion spending bill signed into law by President Joe Biden on March 11.

SAN FRANCISCO Gap and Kanye West announced a partnership Friday which is set to bring Wests creative spirit to the brand he once worked with prior to stardom. West raps about his experience in retail on his song Spaceship, where he talks about his life as teen in Chicago where he worked at a Gap retail store. Additionally, Wests design vision will extend to unique YEEZY Gap expressions in Gap stores and digital channels over time, Gap said in a statement. Under terms of the partnership, Gap and YEEZY benefit as the business grows, with YEEZY receiving royalties and potential equity related to sales achievement, Gap said in a statement. The YEEZY Gap line is expected to appear in Gap stores and Gap.com in 2021.
