The North East Independent School District has sent out approximately 5,000 notifications to current and former employees after a cyberattack compromised personal information, according to district officials.

SAN ANTONIO – The City of Boerne announced Tuesday that Ray Hacker was promoted to fire chief. Hacker, 57, has been serving as the interim fire chief since the retirement of the city’s long-time chief, Doug Meckle, in June. Hacker is from Boerne and graduated from Boerne High School, according to a statement from the city. City Manager Ben Thatcher said the city is excited to have Hacker in the role as both a pillar of the community and an experienced leader. Boerne underwent a two-month-long internal search process led by Deputy City Manager Jeff Thompson, according to a statement from the city.

A total of 300,000 Nintendo accounts have been breached since the beginning of April, the company revealed Tuesday, as hackers used others' Nintendo Network IDs without permission. Previously, the company said 160,000 accounts were hacked, but on June 9 it updated those numbers to a whopping 300,000. Nintendo discovered the additional hacked accounts after continuing its investigation, the company said Tuesday in a statement written in Japanese on its website. A Nintendo Network ID is a unique username and password used mainly for older Nintendo 3DS and Wii U consoles. Anyone who previously used a Nintendo Network ID to log in should now use their Nintendo account email address instead.
