The Hays County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday released bodycam footage of a fatal 2022 shooting inside a hospital seven days after charges were dropped against a corrections officer who shot a jail inmate.

BUDA, Texas – A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found with a gunshot wound before succumbing to his injuries at an area hospital, according to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s deputies said patrol deputies were called to the scene for a report of gunshots. Upon arrival, they found a man with a gunshot wound. The man was taken to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, according to officials. The investigation is still underway by the Hays County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance after a 30-year-old woman went into a gas station and left a note for a clerk, asking them to call 911. Deputies said the woman went into a Valero convenience store at 9435 Ranch Road 12 in Wimberley, passed the note to the clerk, and then left. The woman is believed to have left the scene in a white passenger vehicle, deputies said. The woman is described as 5-feet, 5-inches tall with strawberry blonde or faded pink dyed hair, and had tattoos on both arms, deputies said. KYLE, Texas – A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Kyle, according to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office. Officials said the Hays County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division began an investigation for an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon offense. Officials said Roberto Ochoa Jr., 31, has been charged with capital murder and is in custody at the Hays County jail. KYLE, Texas – A juvenile was fatally shot at a convenience store in Kyle, Texas late Monday night, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office said. Officers were called around 9:40 p.m. to a Poco Loco convenience store in the 700 block of High Road after receiving word of a shooting. According to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office, the juvenile male was dropped off at an area hospital with a gunshot wound where he later died. The sheriff’s office said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing and that no other information is available at this time. SAN MARCOS, Texas – A 41-year-old woman was arrested and charged with trafficking at the Riverbend Spa in San Marcos, according to the Hays County Sherriff’s Office. She’s being held in the Hays County Jail and is charged with trafficking of persons, a second-degree felony. Deputies were first alerted of the alleged trafficking activity at the Riverbend Spa, located at 1904 Old Ranch Road 12, after receiving a complaint for possible illicit activity. The trafficked persons who were found at the spa were paired with the refugee advocates for assistance. SAN ANTONIO – A man who was shot by Hays County authorities during a vehicle pursuit that started on Interstate 35 Monday has been released from the hospital and booked into jail. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office said Richard Pollack, 43, was seen driving at a high rate of speed on the interstate and "weaving recklessly” through traffic at the 210-mile marker. A deputy attempted to pull the vehicle over, HCSO said, but Pollack kept driving, initiating a pursuit with deputies and Buda police. Deputies and police officers were able to stop Pollack’s car on South Loop 4 near Interstate Drive. Pollack was taken to the Hays County Jail and was charged with evading arrest, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawfully carrying a weapon, according to HCSO.

BUDA, Texas – A juvenile was arrested in connection with an arson and murder of a Buda woman, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office said. Officials said the suspect was detained on a “directive to apprehend warrant for murder” and taken to a juvenile detention center. According to HCSO, the body of Janie Rebecca Loredo Zapata, 48, was found at the scene of a fire on May 15 in the 400 block of West Overlook Mountain in Buda. HAYS COUNTY, Texas – A man was shot by deputies following an attempted traffic stop and vehicle chase Monday night, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office said. According to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy tried to get the vehicle to stop, but the vehicle instead sped off. Hays County deputies and officers with the Buda Police Department chased the vehicle until it was finally disabled on South Loop 4 near Interstate Drive, just south of the Buda city limits, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office said. One of the law enforcement officers shot the driver, hitting him several times, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office said. No deputies or officers were hurt in the incident.

DRIPPING SPRINGS – A man was arrested in connection with a recent armed robbery at a Corner Store in Dripping Springs. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office investigated the robbery, which later led to the arrest of John Robert Garrison, 39, on Jan. 7, 2020. Garrison is accused of entering the Corner Store at 2:05 a.m. on Dec. 25, displaying a handgun and demanding money from the cashier, according to officials. Garrison was arrested at a hotel in north Austin without incident by the Austin Police Department Robbery Unit and agents from the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. Officials said Garrison was also wanted on multiple outstanding warrants, including two for aggravated robbery with the Austin Police Department and for a parole violation from the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole.
