According to police, Samantha Caballero, 12, died at University Hospital following a crash that happened around 9 p.m. in the 5500 block of De Zavala Road. A front passenger was taken to University Hospital with a broken right arm. The driver, front passenger and Caballero, who was the rear passenger of the Acura, were all transported to University Hospital, where Caballero later died. The westbound lanes of De Zavala were shut down for several hours as authorities processed the scene.

Simon Daniel Spectre died at the scene of the crash that happed around 3:30 p.m. on the Interstate 35 access road at Thousand Oaks, police said. The truck was traveling southbound on the access road and was unable to stop for the red light at Thousand Oaks, police said. The big rig crashed into a Honda Civic that was traveling westbound on the road. The driver of the Fit was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center, while the driver of the big rig was not injured in the incident, officials said.

Jeremiah Todd Penland, 31, was found dead inside his Honda Civic around 6 a.m. along Loop 1604 near Pue road, just north of Macdona. According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the Civic was heading southbound on the highway and the truck was heading northbound when the truck suddenly veered into the opposite lanes and struck the Civic head-on. The truck rolled over and the car went off the roadway, according to BCSO. BCSO said it wasn’t immediately clear why the truck veered into the other lanes and no charges were immediately filed.
