Original:A man was hit and killed by a vehicle while crossing a far West Side street, San Antonio police said on Wednesday. Police said the victim, a man in his 30s, was crossing the street, stopped, looked down and kept walking across the street before he was hit by the car. The driver of the car that hit that man stopped to help him and is not expected to face charges.

Officials said a driver in a Mustang was driving the wrong direction at a high rate of speed. That driver then ran a red light at Hunt Lane and t-boned the driver of a mini van at the intersection, police said. The mini van then slammed into a pick up truck. Police said the driver of the mini van was rescued by the jaws of life and taken to University Hospital in serious condition.

The woman suffered burns on her upper body after her clothes caught fire, according to a battalion chief. She was able to put out the flames herself by rolling on the floor, the battalion chief said. Firefighters said it appears the fire started in the front bedroom, where the woman was sleeping. The battalion chief said there is smoke damage throughout the home.
