Thatās when, police said, the round ricocheted and hit one of them in the lower leg. Police said officers were able to detain five of the six teens, including the teen wounded.

Sergio De Alba has been charged with aggravated robbery following the incident that happened before 7 p.m. Thursday at RBS Jewelry inside the mall, online booking records show. San Antonio police said DeAlba pretended to be a customer and grabbed gold chains from the owner of the store. Police said De Alba pointed a gun at the man, who then stopped chasing De Alba. The suspect fled south of the mall and was captured near Loop 410 and Culebra Road, police said.

When police arrived at the scene, the women were at the Border Brook Trailhead along with two other men. At the time of the crime, SAPD Chief William McManus said the witnesses accounts were not adding up. Police have previously offered an award of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of her killer.

The man was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
