Former Texas State coach Kaspar denies allegations of racism
AUSTIN, Texas โ Danny Kaspar, the former Texas State basketball coach who resigned while under investigation for allegations he directed racist taunts at Black players, said he holds โonly love in my heart for people of all races, colors and creedsโ in a resignation letter released Wednesday by the school. Kaspar resigned Sept. 22 while the school probed allegations raised by a former Bobcats player who had transferred. In his letter, Kaspar noted he had been a coach for 29 years, the last seven with Texas State, and that most of his players over his career were Black. The school has asked the state attorney general to let it withhold other information related to the investigation, which has not been released. โThe Department of Athletics is committed to strengthening our university culture that values and supports diversity, equity and inclusion for our student-athletes, staff, and community,โ Texas State Athletic Director Larry Teis said when the investigation was announced.

SAN MARCOS โ Danny Kaspar is stepping down from his position as head menโs basketball coach. Texas State announced via press release that Director of Athletics Larry Teis has accepted Kasparโs resignation. Kaspar came under fire in June, as former players accused him of making racist remarks during practice. Shead transferred the following summer. Former teammate Alex Peacock supported Shead, saying "I stand with my boy Jaylen and everything he says 100%.โ

Shead was a student-athlete at Texas State and a starter for the mens basketball team during the 2018-19 season. I could overlook the way coach Kaspar treated the players in most regards. He alleged that Kaspar used racially insensitive remarks during drills and referred to several black stereotypes during team meetings.
Texas State Men's Basketball bounces back for an 84-74 Victory at Arkansas State
Ty Cockfield scored a game-high 39 points and Tristin Walley added 12 points off the bench for Arkansas State (10-15, 4-8). Texas State equaled its season-high of 28 free throws made in the game as Shead made 9-11 and Sule hit 8-9. Following a turnover by Arkansas State, Peacock made one of his two free throws to tie the score 40-40 at halftime. Arkansas State cut the lead in half when Cockfield hit a pair of free throws and nailed a three-point shot from the left wing. Shead closed out the game with two more free throws to make the final score 84-74.
