Adams' attorney, Michael Green, appeared for the surgeon general Wednesday and said his client understands the charge and will plead not guilty. Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell had closed them at the time to try to prevent crowding that could spread the virus. It’s important that we all do the right things right now, even if we don’t feel we are personally at risk.”

David Ige's office said he wasn't immediately aware the Surgeon General was cited while he was here.

Gary Herbert will increase pandemic restrictions in two Utah cities as COVID-19 cases continue to surge in the state. The county accounted for 42% of the state’s cases despite having only 20% of state’s population. Eric Holcomb’s statewide mask mandate and other coronavirus restrictions poses a possible disruption to his reelection campaign. But the real toll is thought to be much higher, in part because many COVID-19 deaths were probably ascribed to other causes, especially early on, before widespread testing.

For example, how do you secure enough shelter space when people have to stay at least 6 feet (1.8 meters) apart from one another? Shelter space is also limited. Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell said that in non-pandemic world the city prepares 10 square feet (1 square meter) per person at shelters. But in order to have 6 feet (1.8 meters) of physical distancing between people, it must allow 60 square feet (6 square meters) per person or family.
