Outfielder Lawrence Butler and the Athletics have finalized a $65.5 million, seven-year contract, another major investment for a team preparing to spend three seasons playing in a temporary minor league home.

A person with direct knowledge of the negotiations says outfielder Lawrence Butler has agreed to a $65.5 million, seven-year contract with the Athletics.

Manager Mark Kotsay has agreed to a contract extension with the Athletics through the 2028 season that includes a club option for 2029.

Lawrence Butler hit three home runs, Brent Rooker and Seth Brown each had two homers, and the Oakland Athletics routed the first-placed Philadelphia Phillies 18-3.
