SAN ANTONIO – The Flying Chanclas de San Antonio announced the signing of four players, all with ties to the city, to the Texas Collegiate League roster on Tuesday. SAN ANTONIO – If you watched any game that the Madison girls soccer team played this season, you likely saw senior Jillian Martinez score a goal......twice. Instead of a proper sendoff to a stellar high school career, Martinez was forced to transition right into training for college. "Going from high school to spring break and then not being able to go back to school to finish the season was tough. Once they canceled the high school season, I immediately switched to college and getting ready for UCLA.”Luckily, Martinez has been able to establish an effective daily routine despite restrictions placed on facilities and personnel. It’s markedly different -- and more intense -- than her high school training.

SAN ANTONIO – A candlelight vigil was held Tuesday night to remember the “positive spirit” of a former standout football player at Madison High School killed this week. Friends and family organized the candlelight vigil, which was held at the Whataburger where he was found shot. Hoffman, who went on to play football for West Texas A&M University, had a bullet wound to his upper body. Former Madison HS football star killed in shooting in San AntonioVisitation for Hoffman will take place from 5-7 p.m. Thursday and noon-1 p.m. Friday at True Vision Church Northeast, located at 2826 Ackerman Road, according to his obituary. Hoffman’s mother, Tiffanne Jackson, wrote on Twitter that the family wants to start a “Work Son” scholarship in his name.

SAN ANTONIO – The victim of a fatal shooting early Monday morning on the Northeast Side has been identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office as 19-year-old Aydin Hoffman. Hoffman is a former standout football player at Madison High School who signed to play with West Texas A&M University. Buffaloes head coach Hunter Hughes issued a statement on behalf of the program:“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Aydin Hoffman during this tragic time,” said Hughes.
