Hundreds of thousands of people in the Houston area likely won't have power restored until next week, as the city swelters in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.

Power companies and Texas officials say restoration efforts could take days. Experts say Texans without electricity are facing a dangerous situation.

In Matagorda County, near where Beryl made landfall, several homes and businesses had shingles ripped off roofs.

BAY CITY, Texas – 4/19/20 Update:Three new positive cases of COVID-19 are reported in Matagorda County, according to the Matagorda County Emergency Operations Center. The patient was a man in his 90s from Matagorda County. He died Sunday at Matagorda Regional Medical Center with symptoms consistent with COVID-19, officials said.
