British singer Duffy spoke out for the first time in years on her Instagram on Tuesday, and said her disappearance from the spotlight happened after she was raped, drugged and held captive for days.
Duffy, 35, is best known for her big 2008 hit, "Mercy," and after her 2010 album, Endlessly, she dropped out of the public eye.
The truth is, and please trust me I am ok and safe now, I was raped and drugged and held captive over some days.
Duffy -- whose full name is Aimee Anne Duffy -- released her debut album, Rockferry, in 2008 and it was the best-selling album in the United Kingdom that year.
At the 2009 GRAMMY Awards, the Welsh singer won the award for Best Pop Vocal Album.
